India Street Lettering

India Street Lettering

For the last decade Pooja Saxena has been working slowly and steadily to create a visual record of public lettering in her country over on India Street Lettering. This summer, she is taking the plunge to turn her typographic discoveries and theses into printed matter: pint-sized, self-published zines that each centre on a tiny sliver of public lettering in India, catalysed by a medley of influences such as material, script, location, function and historical context.

Pooja hopes you’ll pick up a copy for yourself, or for a friend who loves typography. HERE

India is still a country where a lot of signage and posters are done by hand so you have this amazing variety. Her other site is filled with wonderful typography from all over India with locations and stories: https://indiastreetlettering.com/
